It’s that time of year again where I made my annual trip out to Vegas for the SEMA Show. Despite my missing last year’s event, I’ve been going every single year single 2011. The SEMA Show has gotten larger and larger every year and even more so now that there’s an entire finished West Hall. I still get through most of the show in a single day, but this year it just seem more crowded than previous years to the point it was pretty unreasonable for me to stand around all day for a clear shots of cars void of any bodies.
I think a lot things about the show has changed; some for the better and other things less so. The show has become so big and in many I feel unnecessarily so. It’s so spaced out and I think it could definitely sized down. On that same note, Las Vegas has become such a unwelcoming town. Everything has become so expensive and every single thing is nickle and dimed. I definitely would love to see SEMA not be in Vegas and move somewhere even if it was smaller show. Quality over quantity as they say. Anyway, let’s move on to some of things that interested me this year.
LBWK Supra parked outside of West Hall near the Overlander displays.
NIssan/NISMO had the GTR and the new Nismo GTR displayed along with other older 240Zs in a rally/safari style. They were also giving out these classic NISMO logo pins.
ReichWercMeister RWB at the Mother’s display out front.
Moving over to the Hoonigan section another more familiar RWB. This year certainly had a bigger “car youtuber” presence. Personally, it’s not something I’ve been super interested in so I’m not familiar with their content. I just like to look at interesting builds regardless of their “efame status”.
A very custom Porsche prototype, the Half11, by Oilstainlab based on Porsche 911
A big influx of kei car/truck builds this year was nice to see.
A Nissan Sunny with a hakosuka front end not a first, but the addition of the camper shell is different.
I love to see the Battle of the Builder see going on every year.
I caught a nice preview of this car before show on the AutopiaLA channel.
Greddy had quite the display out this year with a couple notable cars.
This all carbon R32 was definitely grabbing all the attention.
HKS was another that had nice display with the R33 GT-R HKS T-002.
The Trueno Edition GR86
Spoon FL5 at the Hondata booth
I remember first seeing Hert’s RX7 back in 2013 at All Star Bash. The fairly different since then, but yet very much recognizable.
This Delorean was fairly popular when it first appeared at SEMA a couple years ago, but it’s back and more polished.
Amir’s time attack NSX with a new livery
Lastly, a walk through the ever so stacked Toyo Treadpass line up.
