Every year, there’s a pretty low profile car event at Pasadena’s Art Center, College of design. Car Classic. It’s not a typical car show, but rather more of a carefully curated vehicle display of some the most beautiful cars throughout history. This isn’t a custom car show or even a concours event. Attendees at this event aren’t just looking at cool cars, but rather design and innovation in the automotive industry over time. I make an effort to make it out to this event every year because it’s a special event not really seen anywhere else.
1953 Porsche 356A Speedster
Matra Bonnet Djet
1951 Siata 1500 Coupe Special
A 1958 Enzmann 506 next to a 1983 Matra Murena 2.2
The center exit exhaust is a beautiful touch to the car.
2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S
2015 Fisker Galpin Rocket
I thought this car are great redesign on the new Mustang. The aggressive styling was a nice improvement aside from the wheels.
1972 Imperial Lebaron
Classic big bodied American cars like this or a Continental have always had a certain appeal to me because they emit such a menacing presence that isn’t too common these days.
1967 Alfa Romeo TX-2
Leather straps is one of those classic touches on cars that I find charming about vintage cars.
The ACR Viper is one of the few cars I’ve been waiting to see from Dodge. Another being the SRT Dart. I’m sure I’m not alone on that, but I hear that the SRT may be revealed at SEMA.
2015 Blade by Divergent Motors. This one of those interesting concept vehicles at the event.
I could help but think the concept was similar to the Elio Motors design where the seating is single file to reduce the overall drag of the car.
Although this one is more performance oriented than fuel efficiency.
1983 Porsche 911C Targa Reimagined
While Singer is famous for resomodding classic 911s while retaining the vintage Porsche styling, this 911 takes on the modern styling entirely.
1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. This was easily my favorite car there because this has always been one those rare amazing vehicles you might not even see in your lifetime.
2014 Chevrolet Chapparal 2X
1987 Oldsmobile Aerotech
1981 DMC Delorean “Back to the Future” Replica. Funny thing about this was that since it was all the rage about the Back to the Future day all week, the Puente Hills mall where the movie was filmed was having this whole fan thing going on there. Since I don’t live in LA and I wasn’t pretending to be the most die hard fan of the movie, I hadn’t planned and making a trip up specifically to see the recreation of the movie scene, but I somehow ended up there anyways after Car Classic. I coincidentally got a similar angle of the movie too. Maybe I’ll make a specific post about it later.
Maybe you recognize this famous cockpit? It’s the interior of KITT from Knight Rider…the original one not the 2008 remake with a Mustang.
Ferrari LaFerrari. Isn’t that always fun to say.
1997 Nissan R390 GT1
Hispano-Suiza H6B Dubonnet Xenia
This strange three wheeler is a Badsey Bullet.
Honda N600 and Mazda Miata
1974 Pinzgauer 710K
Ending this post with a 1974 Tatra T87.
Thanks for reading.
