Animé Los Angeles is a small convention that takes places at the LAX Marriott that is mostly known for a the large amount of cosplayer attendees. As I have stated before, I’m not a huge fan of these small conventions because it is more of a gathering than convention. A majority of people can freely walk about most of the event without paying for a pass unless they wish to attend panels and other convention exclusive events. Most of the cosplayers hang around the pool area which is open to pretty much everyone so you can snap pictures around there. I was somewhat misled to how high the quality of the convention was even though I knew better because small conventions are never as great as big ones. The attendance was pretty good, but there’s always a down side to that because you get more people to take pictures of, but at the same time, it becomes rather crowded and hard to shoot.
Surprisingly, I didn’t really take many pictures at this con, mostly because lighting was extremely harsh during the day and the rest of the time, I was meeting people and hanging out with friends. That was pretty much the value of small conventions though. It’s a much more intimate setting where you can bond with people and that is what made this convention memorable: the great friends I made.
If you remember this, I posted several pictures of him from Comic Con 2011 a few months ago. Excellent craftsmanship put in to making that fully programmed LED Deadmau5 head.
I’m all for a good moeblob anime, but I’d sure like to see some Last Exile cosplay or some of the many good pre Lucky Star shows.
There were some cosplays from older series I saw. Some good, others not so much.
