Continuing the coverage from the Coronado Speed Festival. This part will focus on the pit/paddock area. Here, the competing drivers and teams would work on the cars in the open, for everyone to see…
Beautiful red Boss 302 at the Russo and Steele auctions booth.
Another Boss 302 built by Edelbrock…
Shelby Cobra…note the welded feed ducts on the bumper…
Ralt Formula Three in the yellow Shell/Pennzoil livery…
Cars from the historic stock class being called to the track…
Tim caught this…I don’t can’t recall seeing it for the life of me. This is a Fiat 600 “Jolly”. It’s made to have a canopy over it. And yes, it came with a wicker interior. It’s like something you’d see driving around Disneyland…
300SL Gullwing…should be in a museum somewhere…this thing was pristine…
Nissan Silvia that later ran in the drift demo. Normally drift cars are missing body panels and have mismatched wheels…this one was all buttoned up and uniform…
2010+ Impala stock car in Jeff Gordon’s infamous Dupont livery…
Peerless ’86 Camaro…part of the historic Trans-Am group…
Lotus 26 driver getting strapped in…
I liked these custom intake ducts on the indy cars…reminded me of a jet turbine…haha
Roush Mustang from the late 80s Trans Am series…this thing was my idea of “fully built”.
Take a second to glance over the fabwork here. Look in the cockpit…the ignition modules and brake/clutch feeds are all opposite the firewall…
4 piston caliper, center-lock wheel hub and one huge brake duct…
That’s it for today. We’re still working on the last (and best) bit of coverage from the track. Like I mentioned before, we got up close and personal with some of these cars…we think you’ll enjoy it. Back with more shortly…
Thanks for reading!
