Wrapping it up. Last night I left off about 3/4 of the way through the show…
Sun was still beaming overhead…getting hotter…and you know what that means. All of us were in search of our entitled free NOS energy drinks — because all REAL import car shows have it on tap so attendees can get hyped up with human horsepower. Not only that, we photographers need fuel for victory at big car shows like this…haha…and though we saw several people with NOS in hand, we never managed to find a booth so instead we meandered back towards the entrance in search of some type of shade. We were about done at that point anyways; I still had lingering frustration from the whole parking fiasco and we were all feeling tired overall. Nonetheless we continued to spot great cars and snapped away…I’ll let the pics take over…
The now infamous Celica with the F20C transplant. Tim and I saw this a few weeks ago at Eibach.
This S2000 bay was done up very nicely…
Chris Sakai’s K-equipped EK…
Joey Lee, author of The Chronicles and writer for Honda Tuning, owns this brilliant Q45. VIP done right…
Meanwhile, off the grass there was more to see.
…Like this Lotus Elise that we previously spotted at Autocon. Great little roadster.
Here’s another angle.
The Odyvia from Mastermind…
Loved this sky blue S2000 from Evasive Motorsports. I’ve peeked at it in Honda Tuning a couple times, I believe.
Here’s another shot with a really happy Asian guy standing next to it.
Pearly white TL…
CC with a deep violet paint job and great VIP stance…
I really like the new Fiesta, particularly the RS. I can’t wait to see more Fiesta/Focus builds around…
Tim was trying to stay ahead of the cars and then Amy Fay popped in…
Fiske Profil 5’s and big brakes on this Lexus GS. Love the simple take on VIP.
For the longest time, Neochrome finish used to be one of my biggest peeves. People would do the wheel lips in neochrome, lug nuts, exhaust tips, shift knobs etc. It just looked tacky. THIS Integra changed that for me. The matching components in the engine bay, along with the turbo setup and electric blue paint, make this a downright awesome car. But wait, it’s a B-series? Well for those who are offended by B-powered show cars…
…there’s a matching K-series EG, with neochrome ITBs, to boot.
Sheepey’s Integra made a cameo appearance. Haven’t seen it in a while. Lookin good…
Smart car…hehe…
Random closeup of R33 GTR badge…
Another car I didn’t manage to see! Tim was on top of it, I don’t know what the hell I was doing. This is a beautiful S14…
I’ll close up the Wekfest coverage with an awesome shot of Chris Sakai’s EK9, still one of my all-time favorite cars.
Just some final notes.
I’ve been reading mixed reviews on Wekfest LA from a number of different outlets. My bottom line? There were some things that could have been done better. I’m not going to knock it though – Weksos put a lot of time and effort into organization and advertising, and I’m 100% sure that they’ve learned some things. Their name – Weksos – carries a lot of weight. There’s no doubt they can hold a successful turnout with ANY show that has their name attached to it. That being said, I’m going to go out on a limb and say I’ll be in attendance at next year’s Wekfest LA. Maybe in the same location, maybe somewhere else…I don’t know, but I know they will make it happen.
Hope you enjoyed the blast of coverage in the past few days…I will be going to the U2: 360 tour (again) in Anaheim this Friday, so depending on what decent pictures I can get with a point and shoot I may post them up…anyways, thanks for reading and be safe!
