A long-standing annual event in the Southern California area, the HRE Wheels Open House brings enthusiasts from all ends of the scene to their 60,000 square-foot production facility in Vista.
Upon arrival, the first thing Tim and I noticed was the sheer growth of the event compared to years back. The main through-street was blocked and the surrounding streets were packed full – but HRE was kind and provided a quick shuttle for guests and spectators up and down their street (also new)…
We made our way around the outside of the lot first. Here are some of the highlights:
We were first greeted by this aggressively-equipped Ferrari 488 from GMG Racing…
In general, the 488 resolved the rather dull, lack-luster appearance of the 458…this build just took it a step further.
Also up front, lots of new 991s in a variety of colors…
Around back, Michelin’s setup featured several Ford GTs.
Tim and I really admired the look of these wheels…unique in that the large, broad lip sort of blends itself with the tire. Especially from a distance…
Michelin was showing off their beautiful, purposeful and undoubtedly expensive Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires…among others…
Nice aero on this Cayman build…
A pretty extensive Z build from SOS Customz…
Love the cockpit here…
Sheepey-built twin-turbo Huracan…
Loved this C10 build…not too low, not too over the top…
We then headed inside to check out more. We first came across this new Aston Vantage…
We got a peek at just a fragment of HRE’s extensive manufacturing process…
Ford GT sitting on some crazy 3D-printed carbon wheels that HRE cooked up recently…
The wheels are intricate and interesting, and a testament to HRE’s commitment to detail and cutting-edge design. I wouldn’t want to clean these though…ever…
McLaren Senna…
And a P1…
