After hearing of the FF Battle 2010 going on at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, we were tempted to head up and check it out on Saturday. Unfortunately, I guess some of the events got shuffled around so we didn’t get to see any of the actual competition, but there was still a small crowd and some various racing action – good enough for us. All sorts of cars, from an assortment of imports to some guy with a Ferrari Testarossa. The track setup was a split road course (infield) that shared the front stretch of the outer oval, which made for excellent, evenly-matched racing instead of one car dominating the whole field. From what I’ve read the competition was really close, and, although the results from the FF Battle aren’t posted yet, after seeing all of the setups I still think it could be anybodys game. Anyways, we got shots from a few different angles…enjoy:
Stunning track-spec Integra from Circuit Hero. Amazing custom fabrication from the release system on the body panels, custom strut tower bar, and safety-built cockpit to an aggressive Stoptech brake kit, K-series motor, Japanese front end and J’s Racing spoiler. The craftsmanship and beauty combining with pure racing theory…awesome car…
New CR-Z on display.
IS-F, putting the 8-speed gearbox to use…
Cars were in and out of the pits and garage stalls all day, making adjustments after their practice runs…
Quite a few Porsche drivers in the lineup…
Truck from the NASCAR series setting some quick laps…
Morgan Jade’s K-powered CTR…just happened to be in the perfect spot for a photo.
Oh, and here’s that Testarossa. I gotta give the guy props for actually racing it rather than just detailing it every day and parking it in the garage. We even saw him tearing up the short autocross course. Pretty cool…
Cars getting plenty of attention…
That’s it. After checking out the speedway, we headed out to Speedzone for some go-kart action and dinner @ the Boston Cafe in Hacienda Heights. Overall a really fun day…always great to see well-built cars doing work!
