Shutterspace this year was a bit different from previous years since they move the venue to downtown LA this year. Personally, I preferred the over location at Ancillary Studios for many reasons. Costa Mesa mall was just better suited for events because of the availability of parking, food options, and just a more welcoming venue. I had spent the better part of the day in DTLA already for Nisei and the Dekocar event. We saw one person’s car was broken into in the middle of the day and with situation going on with California and car break-ins, it just seems sensible to avoid bad neighborhoods in general to not have to deal with it. We had to park a few blocks away in some deserted area and walk over.
The outside of the venue was your typical urban industrial looking lot. There was a main lot outside and then several select cars inside the gallery that had to be loaded in since it wasn’t possible to just drive into the place.
After a walk around to snap some pictures and check out the gallery, I left before it got dark so it was a brief visit at this year’s Shutterspace.
