This was a busy week and weekend. Matt and I spent most of our free time working on my car and decided to just focus on that instead of heading out to a couple of shows going this weekend like Suds of Love, Best of the West, and Japan Relief gathering. I originally planned to go, but as every car project, things go on longer than expected. Instead of all the big LA shows, we had a couple hours to spare for a weekly local meet up in Carlsbad.
There’s one thing that I hate seeing in a community where people share interest. Competition. Meets should never be a competition to see who can get more people to go to “their” meetup. Its not a business where it is necessary to have competition, but a place for folks to get a chance to meet and share a common interest. It annoys me to see others starting up another meet on the same day and time just to steal attendance from another meet just to make it “theirs.” Just something I noticed recently.
Early in the morning, we rolled over to Carlsbad and snapped this Lotus on the way over.
Another Lotus at the meet
Laser 917
Another impressive car that showed up was a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
Simply nice looking Corvette.
BMW E30
Porsche Panamera
Another E30
Really beautiful interior. Not sure if I like the clash of classic car and modern technology in this specific car though.
I liked this car, but a few things on it I thought would improve it would have been matching the chrome trim to the gold trim, the carbon fiber wrap on top makes it seem cheap, and the trunk and the trunk latch were different colors.
Merkur XR4Ti/ Ford Sierra XR4i
Finally the R32 Skyline GTR that showed up as well
The meet ends around 9AM where afterwards we went over to the Ruby’s Diner since they have decided to show support of the meet with 10% discounts.
Little train set that goes through the diner.
